We welcome you to try this fun triathlon, hosted by the Foothills Charity Triathlon Society .This is a fun event giving all athletes an opportunity to participate in a triathlon while raising money for children in Ethiopia. Individuals and teams welcome! Teams may consist of 2 or 3 individuals with each completing one or 2 legs of the event.

2008 Foothills Charity Triathlon

$30 from each race entry will go towards helping kids in Ethiopia and Okotoks. 

Kids Hope Ethiopia is a unique program which sponsors orphan children in Ethiopia. These kids receive shelter, education, food and clothing. There are presently over 1.4 million orphan children in Ethiopia.  Race proceeds will go towards the sponsorship of these children. Proceeds will also be donated to a local charity, the Okotoks Healthy Family Resource Center-Backpack Program. This project supplies needy children in Okotoks with school supplies and a backpack for September. More information can be found at: Okotoks Healthy Family Resource Center

Location:

From Highway 2A turn left(east) onto Milligan Drive. Go 2 blocks east to the Okotoks Rec Center to park. Check-in for the race will be in the Curling Rink of the Rec Center, located on the north side of the building. Once you have checked in and had your body marking done, you can walk one block east on Milligan Drive to the Crystal Shores Beach house and get ready for your race. Following the race, come back to the curling rink for the post race celebration.

Route Information:

The course consists of a 500m swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run ride.The swim will take place in Crystal Shores Lake .The bike route will follow town and rural roadways, while the run portion will combine town roadways and the town pathway system. Traffic will be controlled during the bike and run but roads will not be closed.

 Age Categories:

16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+

Participants must be 16 years of age.

Registration Payment Information:

Individual $60.00   (After June 20 Individual $70.00)
Team $120.00      (After June 20 Team $135.00)

Non-ATA members pay $15.00 Insurance fee (this provides you with insurance coverage for the race from the ATA and is mandatory for participants. Team members pay $5 per participant). If you are an ATA member, you must provide your ATA member # on the registration form and present valid ATA membership card at package pickup

Entry deadline is July 1. There will be a $25 administration charge for
cancellations. No refunds after July 1. NSF cheques will be subject
to a $25.00 service charge.

 

For the kids:

There is a category this year for children aged 16-18 years in the triathlon.

We are also pleased to offer a fun running race for kids ages 15 and under following the triathlon. Participants will need to have their parents sign a waiver and pay a $5.00 day insurance fee. Please fill out the Kids Fun Run entry form and send it to us. You can also enter your child on race day before 8:00 am at the race check-in station. T shirts are available for those who pre-order them on their registration form before June 20. Distances will vary according to age groups. See What is the Kids Fun Run? for more information.

Package Pickup:

Package pick up at: Okotoks Recreation Centre Curling Rink on Milligan Drive on Friday, July 4 from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm

Late package pick-up at Okotoks Recreation Centre Curling Rink prior to the race the race from 7:00 to 7:45 am on July 5.
