Canadian Humanitarian and Kids Hope Ethiopia

Kid’s Hope Ethiopia is a unique project sponsored by Canadian Humanitarian (www.canadianhumanitarian.com).  Presently in Ethiopia, there are 6 million children living as orphans.  Many have lost one or both of parents to disease such as HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis.  Many are not able to attend school, though they would love to.  The cost of school fees, books and uniforms makes regular school attendance only a dream.  Canadian Humanitarian’s Kid’s Hope project is allowing 100 children’s dream to attend school a reality.  Along the way the children’s, family and community is given the opportunity to gain skills to climb out of poverty..

In 2005, Canadian Humanitarian partnered with a local organization called Kid’s Hope Ethiopia to support a community based foster care program where orphaned children can live in family settings and attend school, while receiving emotional, social and physical support.  The children live in foster families and attend an after school center called the Kid’s Hope Center.  At the Kid’s Hope Center 40 children were initially enrolled in 2005.  This soon grew to 50 and now in 2 Kid’s Hope Centers 100 children are being assisted.
